Rush Authorizes ‘The Making Of A Farewell To Kings’ Graphic Novel

Rush tapped Fantoons to create a graphic novel detailing the making of their 1977 studio album A Farewell To Kings. The Making Of A Farewell To Kings – The Graphic Novel is due September 10.

“We worked incredibly hard to create a graphic novel that celebrates the music of Rush, and the creation of the album of ‘A Farewell To Kings’ as a work of art” said Fantoons LA-based creative director, David Calcano. “We think this book will be something for comics and music fans alike to cherish.” Rush’s fifth studio album contains such classics as “Xanadu,” “Closer To The Heart” and the title track.

Calcano co-wrote the book with Lindsay Lee. Juan Riera and Ittai Manero provided artwork. Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson and A Farewell To Kings producer Terry Brown gave their input into the writing of the book. Brown also contributed the foreword. In other Rush/Fantoons news, a fully authorized coloring book filled with 70 illustrations that feature Rush artworks and references from the band’s 1981 LP Moving Pictures through 2012’s Clockwork Angels.
