This January, Jam Cruise 17 departed from Miami to make its annual loop around the Caribbean. One artist tapped for its lineup was Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, the soulful seven-piece out of Brooklyn. Led by vocalist Arleigh Kincheloe, the band worked through a powerful take on “Leave Here With Me” during their Pool Deck set on the first day of the trip.
The song appears on Sister Sparrow’s most recent album, Gold, which marked the band’s comeback after Kincheloe took time off for the birth of her son in 2017. During the Jam Cruise set, the singer was in proper form, using her powerful vocals to captivate the evening crowd. Later in the song, Dumpstaphunk keyboardist and Jam Cruise veteran Ivan Neville came out to join the band. The New Orleans favorite offered a powerful organ solo, which spanned across the second half of the rendition.
