This Grand Seiko Racing Watch Honors 50 Years of the Mighty Nissan GT-R

145

There’s now a gloriously high-end racing watch to help the Nissan GT-R celebrate its half-century legacy.

Grand Seiko unveiled a special-edition version of their Spring Drive model dressed in the same “Bayside Blue” color that the Japanese automaker is offering on the commemorative GT-R “Special Anniversary Edition” for the first time in nearly new decades.

The bezel is ceramic, while the silver dial is protected by the inner case’s high-intensity titanium construction. The material guards against scratches while fitting comfortably on the wrist and providing 10 meters of water resistance.

Two other nods to Nissan are present in the white racing stripe-like band that runs down the crocodile leather strap and the 18K gold “GTR” emblem stamped on the sapphire crystal back.

This see-through component reveals Grand Seiko’s proprietary movement, which is accurate to a half second per day and boasts a 72-hour power reserve.

Other functions include 24-hour hand, a 12.5-hour chronograph, and a calendar-linked time difference adjustment function.

With a hefty price tag of $21,000, the Grand Seiko x Nissan Spring Drive costs about as much as a used GT-R. But goddamn, it’s gorgeous.
