Twiddle Performs 1st Song Ever Written At Rutland Finale: Full Show Pro-Shot Video

Last weekend, Twiddle performed a pair of sold-out home state shows at Rutland, Vermont’s The Paramount Theatre. On the final night of the run, which benefitted several newly launched scholarships at Castleton University, the group offered a stellar showcase of new favorites as well as long-standing older tunes including a special performance of their first-ever song, “Laughable Butane Bob.”

Before the two-set performance on Friday, March 29, Twiddle offered a special acoustic pre-show to VIP ticketholders. During the question-and-answer portion of the afternoon, with all four band members seated front and center on stage, Mihali Savoulidis and Ryan Dempsey discussed the first song they ever wrote together. Titled “Laughable Butane Bob,” the duo noted that the track has been rarely played in full by the jam band outfit. However, because the song easily transitions into fan-favorite “Mamunes the Faun,” Twiddle has occasionally teased verses of the number in past performances. To kick off Friday’s show, Twiddle offered up a non-stop five song string, starting with two Plump tracks, “Enter” and “Orlando’s.” After a detour through two older tunes, “Apples” and “Tiberius,” the band returned to “Orlando’s” to finish off the sequence. Next, Twiddle performed “Machine,” a song which the group debuted last October in Rochester, New York, before landing in a spirited take of the buoyant “Mamunes The Faun,” featuring a trance-inspired improvisational section. For the last song of set one, the group invited out guitarist Casey Grant for “Latin Tang.”

For the five-song second frame, the group started off with an extended rendition of the feel-good “Syncopated Healing,” which spanned 14 minutes. Next up was a bass-heavy take on “Polluted Beauty” followed by a well-segued combination of two fan-favorites, “Jamflowman” and “Frankenfoote.” To close out the set, the band offered a soulful rendition of “Lost In The Cold,” before finishing the performance with a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Eyes of the World” featuring Rick Redington.
