A small collection of David Bowie‘s early career demo recordings captured on reel-to-reel tape have been unearthed and will be sold at auction later this month.

The boxed reel of 1/4″ Ampex recording tape includes four recordings from Bowie which were captured at Decca Studio 2 in West Hampstead, London in 1967. The demos were initially intended to appear on the singer’s debut album, but never made it onto the final tracklisting. All four recordings max out no longer than 2 minutes and 45 seconds in length, and include Bowie’s renditions of songs titled “Funny Smile”, “Pussy Cat”, and “Bunny Thing”. The reel also includes the demo of a song titled “Did You Ever Have a Dream”, which would go on to be included on the British rock star’s 1981 Another Face compilation.

Spin also reports that the recording of “Bunny Thing” closes out with Bowie offering up some spoken word about rabbits smuggling drugs. Fans can listen to a portion of the recordings below.

The lucky fan or collector who purchases the David Bowie demos will also go home with a digital copy of the recordings, which are included in the package. Starting bid for the item is currently listed at £3,000 (just over $3,900) and is expected to sell for somewhere between £5,000 – £8,000 ($6,500 – $10,400). Omega Auctions will sell the item during their upcoming event in Newton-le-Willows, England on May 21st. Fans can visit the item’s page on the auctioneer’s website for a detailed breakdown.

Speaking of “demos”, a forthcoming posthumous Bowie record titled, The Mercury Demos, is set to arrive late next month on June 28th via Parlophone. The album is set to include 10 previously unreleased Bowie recordings which were captured in the late musician’s apartment in the spring of 1969.
