Jakob Dylan and Jade Castrinos stopped into the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on Tuesday to perform a pair of The Mamas And The Papas songs from the soundtrack to the highly anticipated Echo In The Canyon documentary for Jimmy Kimmel Live. Dylan and Castrinos played the soundtrack’s lead single “Go Where You Wanna Go” for the televised section and also offered up a take on “Dedicated To The One I Love” as a bonus web performance.
Echo In The Canyon chronicles the heady early years of the Laurel Canyon music scene (1965-1967), taking place not too far away from where Dylan and Castrinos performed for Kimmel on the bustling Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Tucked into the Hollywood Hills, Laurel Canyon in the mid-sixties was like a living songwriter walk of fame in itself where a number of rock and folk luminaries lived and wrote some of the period’s most iconic music.
Echo In The Canyon features interviews from many of those luminaries including Neil Young, David Crosby, Jackson Browne and more while the soundtrack sees more contemporary artists including Jakob Dylan, Jade Castrinos, Beck and Fiona Apple interpreting many of those beloved songs.
