Jim James Finishes 2-Night Run In Washington DC

143

Jim James is currently in the midst of his spring solo tour. On Friday night, the My Morning Jacket frontman kicked off a two-night run at Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club. On Saturday evening, the singer wrapped up the stint with his second and final performance in the nation’s capital.

During Saturday’s show, James drew heavily from Friday’s setlist, repeating 14 songs, albeit stringing them together in a new order. The vast majority of these songs represented newer tracks from his set of 2018 companion releases, Uniform Clarity and Uniform Distortion. However, the singer also revived two songs off 2013’s Regions of Light and Sound of God (“A New Life” and “State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U.),” the latter serving as the encore’s closer both nights) and 2016’s Eternally Even (“Here In Spirit” and “Same Old Lie”).

However, James did change up the performance with four songs that were not previously played during the run. In the middle of the one-set show, he offered up two additional Eternally Even tracks, “True Nature” and “Hide In Plain Sight.” He also drew a new selection from My Morning Jacket’s catalog to open up the encore, performing “Golden” from 2003’s It Still Moves before following it up with another non-repeat, Uniform Clarity‘s “Too Good To Be True.”
