Lucky Chops Ignite Weeknight Party At Brooklyn Bowl

NYC’s hometown brass-funk outfit Lucky Chops put on yet another high energy show at Brooklyn Bowl on April 24 as part of a three-show album release residency happening between March and next Wednesday, May 15.

The show opened with a set from another Brooklyn local, Breakdown Brass, who entertained the early crowd with their funky original tunes and their own takes on some familiar hip-hop and R&B songs.

As the crowd continued to pack in, the din soon drowned out the sounds of the strikes and gutter balls at the adjacent bowling lanes. But, there were only strikes and spares coming from Lucky Chops’ set. They featured a few new songs from the soon to be released crowd-funded album (their first full-length album) along with plenty from their already released EPs.

Throughout the show Lucky Chops welcomed some special guests to the stage including former bandmates Leo P (Too Many Zooz), Ibanda Ruhumbika, and Jesse Chevan, along with Wenzyl McGowan (Moon Hooch), Nadav Nirenberg (Breakdown Brass), Eric Trudel, and Sunny Jain among others.

Consistent with their live show, several of Lucky Chops’ songs stepped out a little bit from the studio versions to break down and jam especially with each of the guests in their set.

Lucky Chops returns next Wednesday on May 15 for the final show of their album release residency, also doubling as the Relix Live Music Conference after-party alongside Midnight North. Tickets (which are going quickly) and more info are available from Brooklyn Bowl’s website.
