Guitarist Marcus King was Dumpstaphunk‘s special guest on Sunday night at Tipitina’s in New Orleans hours after Jazz Fest wrapped up at the Fairgrounds. King sat-in with what he described as “his favorite band” on songs by The Allman Brothers Band, Led Zeppelin and more.

Marcus emerged just over an hour into a Dumpstaphunk set that started with Nick Daniels and Tony Hall providing a bass duel. The South Carolina-bred guitarist led the funk act through the ’70s soul/blues deep cut “I’d Rather Be (Blind, Crippled & Crazy) for his first number of the night. Dumpstaphunk and King then went the blues route for B.B. King’s “It’s My Own Fault.” Next came Marcus channeling Gregg Allman on The Allman Brothers Band classic “Don’t Keep Me Wonderin’.” For the finale of the set, King teamed with Dumpstaphunk on Led Zeppelin’s “Ramble On.”
