Neil Young concluded the solo portion of his May 2019 Tour on Saturday night at Martin Woldson Theater in Spokane, Washington. Young shocked fans early in the night by presenting just the sixth known solo version of “The Losing End” and first since 1983.

The 73-year-old performer opened with a song tentatively titled “Think Of Me,” one of five tunes debuted this tour and played in Spokane. Next up was the title track to 1969’s Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, an album which also features “The Losing End.” Young’s rendition of “The Losing End” came next and was arguably the biggest surprise of the tour. As per Sugar Mountain, Young’s first three performances of the song were played solo in 1969 and then he was backed by a band for all future takes with the exception of two versions during a 1983 tour in support of Trans.

Saturday’s setlist was similar to others from the tour after “The Losing End.” Songs thought to be titled “She Showed Me Love,” “Right By Her Side” and “Why Do I Believe In You” that were debuted at the tour opener in Vancouver were each played for the fourth time ever on Saturday. “Rainbow Of Colors,” unveiled one night earlier in Portland, Oregon saw action for the second time in Spokane. Also of note was the tour debut of “Are You Ready For The Country?”

Neil Young now teams up with Promise Of The Real for a run of four performances that starts tonight at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle.
