Neil Young and Promise Of The Real played their first concert of 2019 together last night at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. Young & POTR performed eight total shows in 2018 with the last taking place at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on September 27. The group has 12 more concerts already slated for the rest of the year.

Monday’s concert started off with a Neil Young solo segment in which the legendary singer-songwriter performed “After The Gold Rush,” “Green Is Blue,” “Heart Of Gold,” “Comes A Time” and “Mother Earth (Natural Anthem).” While “Comes A Time” wasn’t played at any of Neil’s four solo concerts that led up to last night’s show, the other four songs were played at all of the May 2019 solo gigs.

Promise Of The Real then joined Neil for the vast majority of last night’s show starting with “Human Highway.” The first song Neil & POTR played in Seattle that they hadn’t performed in a while was “Alabama,” which had been missing from the group’s setlists since their appearance at Desert Trip in 2016.

Young and the ensemble unveiled full-band renditions of songs tentatively titled “She Showed Me Love” and “Right By Her Side” as well as “Rainbow Of Colors.” All three tunes were debuted this past month during Neil’s solo concerts. Neil posted a message on his Neil Young Archives website mentioning that he played Promise Of The Real the forthcoming Crazy Horse album on Sunday night “and picked out a few songs to do [on Monday night].

Last night’s main set ended with a run of the group’s first “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere” since 2016, “Love & Only Love” and “Rockin’ In The Free World.” For the encore, Neil led Promise Of The Real through “Roll Another Number” and the recently debuted “Rainbow Of Colors.” The band returns to Seattle’s Paramount Theatre tonight.
