Rihanna fans have been absolutely starving for new music, as we haven’t heard so much as a peep from the megastar since her 2016 album ANTI, but in a new interview she has given us some details of what we can expect.
Sitting down with The New York Times, Rihanna confirmed and denied a whole swirl of rumours about the upcoming album, firstly saying that it is, indeed, a reggae record.
She also shut down some rumours of some potential collaborators. A while ago, news circulated that Lady Gaga might be featured on the album, to which Rihanna denied.
“Maybe because she followed me on Instagram,” she said, in response to why her fans thought that collaboration would be happening.
“It’s not in the books right now, but I’m not against it.”
She’s also confirmed that she’s not reuniting with Drake again any time soon.
“Not anytime soon, I don’t see it happening. Not on this album, that’s for sure.”
As far as a name for the album goes, she’s also not sure about that but she certainly has one in mind.
“So far it’s just been R9, thanks to the Navy,” she said, referencing ‘R9’ as her ninth album and the Navy is her fanbase
“I’m about to call it that probably, ’cause they have haunted me with this “R9, R9, when is R9 coming out?” How will I accept another name after that’s been burned into my skull?”
Well, let us just hope that with this ninth album, whenever it arrives, that we’ll get a brand spanking new Aussie tour too.
