The Who frontman Roger Daltrey will issue a new live album entitled The Who’s Tommy Orchestral via Polydor on June 14. Daltrey unveiled “Pinball Wizard” from the forthcoming record.

The live album was recorded during Daltrey’s 2018 U.S. Tour, which included complete performances of The Who’s Tommy rock opera each night. David Campbell came up with new orchestrations for the material from the 1969 album. Roger Daltrey and Keith Levenson produced the set.

Roger was joined by The Who’s touring band of guitarists Simon Townshend and Frank Simes, drummer Scott Devours, bassist Jon Button and keyboardist Loren Gold. In addition, Levenson conducted The Budapest Scoring Orchestra. “[The Who guitarist] Pete’s [Townshend] music is particularly suited to being embellished by the sounds that an orchestra can add to the band,” said Daltrey. “Tommy can mean whatever you want it to mean, I use the characters in it as metaphors for parts of the human condition, so it’s a kind of a story of the human spirit. Even though it is 50 years on, I approach it as though I’m singing it for the first time.”
