Summer Camp Music Festival 2019: The Weekend In Photos [Gallery]

Over Memorial Day weekend, Summer Camp Music Festival returned to Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, IL for their 19th annual event to help kick off the summer festival season in earnest.

The weekend kicked off with a Thursday pre-party featuring an “Axe The Cables” performance by STS9 as well as sets by EOTOKeller WilliamsSpafford, and many more. Thursday at Summer Camp 2019 also featured late-night Red Barn performances by Umphrey’s McGee and Here Come The Mummies.

After Thursday’s pre-party festivities, SCAMP got down to business on Friday with their first full day of music of the weekend. The Friday schedule kicked off with a performance by Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and continued grooving throughout the afternoon with sets from Keller Williams’ PettyGrass, moe.ExmagMihaliThe Soul Rebels, Ghost Light, Spafford, Here Comes The Mummies, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, and more. In the evening, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong took over the Moonshine Stage for an evening set, followed by the first of two Umphrey’s sets of the night at the Sunshine Stage. When Rebelution was unable to make it for their scheduled Friday evening performance, the members of moe. and PPPP teamed up for an off-the-cuff collaborative set to fill the slot. When they finished, the crowds moved back to the Sunshine Stage for UM’s second set of the evening. The after-hours music schedule continued from there with performances by Zeds Dead, STS9, MungionTokimonstaFlux PavilionDoom Flamingo, and more, in addition to Red Barn late-night sets by moe. and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong.

While inclement weather caused several of Saturday’s sets to be canceled, attendees still enjoyed two sets by moe. and one by Umphrey’s in addition to performances by Big Gigantic (featuring a sit-in from Mihali Savoulidis of Twiddle) and Blues Traveler (who also welcomed Mihali for a sit-in), a live band set by Chromeo, more. During their afternoon set, Andy Frasco & The U.N. kept the party raging, recruiting Big Gigantic’s Jeremy Salken for a crowd surfing race with Frasco. Black Star was also scheduled to perform, but after travel difficulties caused their onstage crew to miss their original 4 p.m. slot and rain caused the cancelation their rescheduled 11 p.m. set, the hip-hop duo didn’t end up taking the Summer Camp stage. The night was capped off by Red Barn late-nights sets by Chromeo and Lotus.

The 2019 edition of Summer Camp Music Festival came to a close with afternoon performances by Umphrey’s, Aqueous, Yonder Mountain String BandBreak ScienceChris Robinson BrotherhoodToo Many Zooz, and more. As the sun dipped behind the horizon, Papadosio took over the Moonshine Stage, followed by evening sets from Toots and the MaytalsOteil Burbridge & FriendsBen Harper & The Innocent CriminalsRuss LiquidPNUMA Live, Lotus, and more, in addition to two final headlining sets from moe.
