The String Cheese Incident Jams Unplugged In The Crowd, Welcomes Scott Sharrard For ABB Cover At Capitol Theatre Finale [Videos]

On Monday, The String Cheese Incident returned to The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY for the third and final show of their three-night Memorial Day Weekend run.

The six-piece opened up their first set with “You’ve Got The World”, which was followed up by “Sweet Spot”. Jason Hann usually takes over the drum duties on “Sweet Spot” with Michael Travis generally jumping over to Hann’s percussion setup, but last night, Travis had some fun and stepped up to the front of the stage to rock out on a tambourine. The band moved forward with an exploratory “Little Hands” before smoothly landing into “Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance” led by Bill Nershi. Following “Beautiful”, The String Cheese Incident invited up guitarist and former Gregg Allman Band bandleader Scott Sharrard for a rockin’ pairing of “Outside And Inside” into a set-closing take on The Allman Brothers Band‘s “Hot ‘Lanta”. The sit-in and cover perfectly coincided with the two-year anniversary of Gregg Allman‘s passing, delighting the energetic Memorial Day crowd at the beloved rock palace.

Following setbreak, the band returned to open up their set with a special unplugged “Dark Hollow” jam on the floor of The Capitol Theatre, surrounded by audience members in the front section of the venue. String Cheese moved forward with the newer Michael Kang-penned “Into The Blue”, followed by a pairing of “Joyful Sound” into “Rumble”. The sextet sandwiched a cover of The Police‘s “Walking On The Moon” in between a noteworthy “Best Feeling” before coasting into “Colliding”. The band brought their second set to a close with “Texas”. A cover of Peter Gabriel‘s “Shakin’ The Tree” served as the evening’s lone encore.
