This Stunning Outdoor Resort Is the Ultimate Stargazer's Paradise

A luxurious new South American resort offers stargazers the ultimate celestial paradise.

Settled nearly 12,000 feet above sea level on the arid grounds of Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni—Earth’s largest salt flat—the Kachi Lodge is host to numerous space-station-like dome pods.
Each is made of metal equilateral triangles that provide structure for a white canvas and a giant clear viewing panel.

But this is definitely not your average outdoor campsite. Inside the solar power-heated units are amenities and décor worthy of a hotel room, including a private bathroom, plush double bed, central stove, soft beige carpet, and, of course, incredible views of the star-lit sky at night and the sweeping desert landscape during the day.

There’s no shortage of great treks nearby, either. Patrons can visit a cactus-covered island just 30 feet from the site before pushing onward to the mummified village of Coquesa or venturing to the lower lip of the Tunupa volcano crater.

If hiking isn’t your thing, the famous archaeological plot of a pre-Columbian city is just over an hour away by vehicle. Alternatively, guests can simply borrow one of the resort’s mountain bikes and cruise the salt flats solo.

According to Travel and Leisure, all meals, drinks, activities and airport transportation are included in the two-night stay. Prices tart at $1,980 per person.

If stargazing in South America sounds like your thing, visit Kachi Lodge’s website to book your trip now.
