Umphrey’s McGee shared the “Miss Tinkle’s Overture” episode of the Anchor Drops Redux video series. The band is highlighting songs off Anchor Drops with a video series featuring “a track-by-track deep dive into the history of the album, stories behind the songs, and musings on the early years of the band’s time in Chicago.”

Umphrey’s McGee will release Anchor Drops Redux, an expanded re-release and the first vinyl pressing of the band’s 2004 record Anchor Drops, tomorrow, May 17. Past episodes of the Anchor Drops Redux video series include “Plunger,” “Anchor Drops,” “In The Kitchen” and “Bullhead City.” The latest installment begins with guitarist Jake Cinninger describing how he wrote “Miss Tinkle’s Overture.”

Cinninger explains that the process began in his Chicago basement studio with keyboardist Joel Cummins’ synthesizer which was used to craft a sequence of simple chord progressions with an “elongated symphonic approach.” He states that writing the song was “challenging and fun.” Watch Umphrey’s McGee’s “classical approach to rock ‘n’ roll” with the “Miss Tinkle’s Overture” installment of the Anchor Drops Redux series below:
