Watch Gov’t Mule & Jack Pearson Perform Allman Brothers Band Classics In Macon

123

On April 26, Gov’t Mule made a stop in The Allman Brothers Band’s hometown of Macon, Georgia for what turned out to be a special show at the Macon City Auditorium. Former ABB guitarist Jack Pearson sat-in with the Mule on a series of seven Allman Brothers Band classics to end the night. Video featuring two performances from the memorable concert have surfaced.

Jack Pearson replaced Warren Haynes in The Allman Brothers Band when Haynes and the late Allen Woody left the group in 1997 to focus on Mule. Pearson’s stint in the ABB lasted until 1999 at which point Derek Trucks replaced him. The wonderful collaboration in Macon was taken to the next level as Warren used Duane Allman’s 1957 Goldtop Les Paul on loan from the Big House Museum.

The Gov’t Mule/Jack Pearson collaboration started one song into the second set and included takes on “Soulshine,” “Blue Sky,” “Dreams,” “Jessica,” “Whipping Post” and “Melissa.” Pearson and Mule worked “Mountain Jam” within the “Melissa” encore. Here’s high-quality video of “Whipping Post” and “Blue Sky” captured by River Alph:
