Famous 1965 Kirkham Cobra Could Be All YoursThis car rose to notoriety when it was showcased by Ford at SEMA. You don’t really get many chances in life to own a celebrity, but this 1965 Kirkham Cobra is just one of those opportunities. While some might dismiss it as just another Cobra replica, this one stands apart from others in quality and some critical details. Thanks to Fast Lane Classic Cars Inc. this amazing roadster will pass into the hands of someone new. While some Cobra replicas might look a lot like the original but are definitely fangless in comparison, this one uses a hard-hitting 495ci FE aluminum racing engine built by Kinetic Racing. The engine alone cost a cool $41,000 in 2004. To capture all that power, a Tremec TKO600 Road Race Transmission, which is a 5-speed, has been bolted up.When it comes to styling, that captivating exterior vibe comes from the brushed bare aluminum body, coupled with polished stripes. Badging, roll hoop, windshield, wheels, polished exhaust headers, and other details are so faithful to the Shelby 50th Anniversary Car that it’s almost impossible to tell them apart. Back in 2016 the car was returned to Kirkham for a full refurbishing, where it was completely disassembled and gone over thoroughly at the tune of $42,000.To match the captivating exterior, Kirkham created a simple yet luxurious interior. Black leather is applied to the seats and dash, while the driver uses a short shifter and high-end Speedhut gauges. Everything feels substantial and has a composed, top-shelf presentation throughout instead of corners having been cut, which is often all too common.Back when this car was completed in 2004, it was the most expensive Kirkham Cobra that had been built, and it shows. There are details like Teflon fuel lines, a billet suspension, and stainless steel 4-inch frame rails. As a rolling chassis it was shown off at the Ford Engine Booth during SEMA, wowing crowds.
