Turkuaz’s Shira Elias To Debut Original Music With New Solo Project At NYC Show

123

Songstress Shira Elias of Turkuaz is venturing out on her own with her solo project at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 in New York, NY on Friday, June 14th.

She’ll be debuting new originals as well as putting her stamp on some favorite funk and soul covers with the new outfit, which features Rodney Flood, Joél Gonzalez, Sasha Brown, and Lavondo Thomas. Joining them will be special guests Nick Cassarino (The Nth Power), Sammi Garett (Turkuaz), Mr. At (Slick Rick), and saxophonist Alison Shearer.

“I’m so excited and relieved to be sharing the music that’s been in my head and my heart for a long time and to connect with the people in a different way,” Shira explains. “It’s a bit scary to step out on your own from such a large ensemble situation but I’m finally ready. And I hope the fans are too.”

While this solo project is a new endeavor for Elias, she is no stranger to leading talented bands onstage. In February, she hosted members of The MotetBig GiganticBreak Science, John Brown’s Body, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and more for the second edition of Live For Live Music‘s The Funk Sessions in Denver, CO.
