On Saturday night, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit offered up a debut during their performance at Berkeley, CA’s Greek Theatre. Isbell and his band’s set came as part of a co-headlining tour they’re currently in the midst of with Father John Misty.
Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit opened up their set with “Hope The High Road”, followed by bluesy takes on Isbell’s “24 Frames” and “Something More Than Free”. Moving out of “Something More Than Free”, the band dove into the debut of a new original, which is yet to be titled. Following the debut, Isbell noted that the song is “brand new”. For the remainder of their set, Isbell and his bandmates offered up a mix of originals and covers, including Drive-By Truckers‘ “Danko/Manuel” and “Decoration Day”, Fleetwood Mac‘s “Oh Well”, along with “Maybe It’s Time”, which Isbell wrote for the recent multiple Oscar-nominated film, A Star Is Born. The number serves as the signature song for Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born character—a character based largely on Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder.
