Veteran music journalist Mike Greenblatt will release a new book celebrating the upcoming 50th anniversary of Woodstock this summer. Titled, Woodstock 50th Anniversary: Back to Yasgur’s Farm, the 224-page book will take nostalgia-bitten baby boomers back to the height of the counterculture when it arrives through Krause Publications on July 16th.
According to the book’s announcement via press release, Woodstock 50th Anniversary will include a first-hand account (Greenblatt was in attendance at the 1969 music event) and submitted stories from artists and attendees in hopes of portraying the three days of peace and music that unfolded at Max Yasgur‘s 600-acre dairy farm half a century ago.

The book will include a Foreword written by Woodstock performer Country Joe McDonald, in addition to interviews with Graham Nash, Carlos Santana, Joe Cocker, Richie Havens, members of Jefferson Airplane, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Sly & The Family Stone, Canned Heat, and more. In total, all 32 performances which took place throughout the festival are highlighted throughout the book from start to finish.
News of the forthcoming publication adds to the pre-existing hype surrounding the 50th anniversary of pop music’s most famous American festival come August, thanks in large part to the ongoing drama surrounding co-founder Michael Lang‘s hopes of relaunching the event with help from Jay-Z, Dead & Company, Miley Cyrus, and many more. Earlier this spring it was also announced that a new documentary on the festival debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival, and is set to arrive onto PBS later this year.
Fans who don’t have the patience for reading or films can instead invest their time and money in a massive Woodstock 50th Anniversary box set, which will feature recordings of almost every song performed at the festival.
