Ahead of Soulive‘s return to Brooklyn Bowl this weekend for round two of shows for their ongoing Bowlive VIII residency, the notable New York City venue has shared the second half of its two-part docu-series chronicling the epic history between itself and the band.

The new video follows the first part of the series which premiered last Thursday, and again features interviews with all three members of the band in Eric KrasnoNeal Evans, and Alan Evans, in addition to Brooklyn Bowl co-owners Pete Shapiro and Charley Ryan.

While the first part introduced the birth of the Bowlive idea and establishing how Soulive is so genuinely connected to the success of Brooklyn Bowl in its earliest days, the second part of the docuseries focuses more on the aftermath of the first residency and the memories which have come from all the shows in the years since. The video begins with the names of every Bowlive guest over the years being listed out like a Who’s Who of most major jazz, funk, rock, and soul players within the scene.

Two of the highlight guests from over the years who receive special mention by members of the band include Parliament-Funkadelic keyboardist Bernie Worrell and The Meters’ George Porter Jr., with the latter set to return as the special guest on Friday, July 19th.

“Bowlive was really unique in that the same night you could hear [Run] DMC and Talib Kwali, but also hear John Scofield,” Krasno says at one point in the video. “And you’re getting the same crowd going wild for both people.”

“That’s the beautiful thing about Bowlive,” Alan Evans also added. “Skin color, genre, or whatever you come up with–all that doesn’t matter when you’re just witnessing greatness.”
