Elephant Wrecking Ball, the instrumental, electronic-based power trio comprised of drummer Neal “Fro” Evans (Dopapod), trombonist Scott Flynn (Odesza), and bassist Dan Africano (Ghost Light), will release a new studio album, JOY FRONT this fall on October 11th.
The fourth studio album from Evans and his Elephant Wrecking Ball project will be their first since the 2017’s Engage. The announcement on Tuesday revealed that the overall sound of the band’s forthcoming project “successfully weaves adventurous musical explorations over beds of electronic-infused dub-like grooves, proving that the act of embracing a variety of styles can be channeled into an identity that is focused and pure despite its lack of a singular genre.”

The band will also hit the road this fall for a run of tour dates beginning with their appearance at River Music Experience in Davenport, IA on October 13th. From there, the tour will continue with shows at Bourbon on Division in Chicago, IL (10/18); The Winchester Music Tavern in Cleveland, OH (10/22); Club Cafe in Pittsburgh, PA (10/23); The Basement East in Nashville, TN supporting Perpetual Groove (10/25); and the patio at Empire Control Room in Austin, TX (11/1), to name a few.
News of the band’s forthcoming release comes just under two months after Dopapod celebrated the May arrival of their own new studio album, Emit Time. Dopapod also recently gave their fans a mid-summer treat by sharing 100+ unreleased shows from their extensive live catalog to Nugs.net ahead of their appearance at The Peach Music Festival this weekend.
