On Saturday night, Paul McCartney wrapped his Freshen Up U.S. tour with a performance at Los Angeles, CA’s Dodger Stadium.

After a marathon set full of material from The BeatlesWings, and McCartney’s solo songbooks, the famous rocker returned to the stage for his encore with The Beatles (The White Album) favorite, “Birthday”. From there, McCartney introduced a very special, familiar guest who just happened to have celebrated his birthday last week: “We’ve got a surprise for us, a surprise for you, a surprise for everyone,” McCartney mused. “Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only, Ringo Starr.”

After a quick embrace with his former Beatles bandmate, Starr sat down behind the drum kit to keep time for a brief run through “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” before moving into “Helter Skelter”. Watch the whole Paul McCartney/Ringo Starr collab below:

Starr thanked the audience and bid them farewell with his patented “Peace and Love” before exiting the stage, allowing McCartney to continue through Abbey Road favorites “Golden Slumbers” and “Carry That Weight” with his core band. As McCartney finished out the B-Side suite with “The End”, one last special guest joined him onstage to add to the closing guitar solo: Joe Walsh of The Eagles, who has also previously played in Starr’s All Starr Band.

As McCartney joked while the crowd applauded the guest-filled encore, “The best part is we didn’t have a clue what we were doing, but we loved it!”
