The Dickey Betts Band has shared the pro-shot video showcasing their live rendition of The Allman Brothers Band‘s “Rambin’ Man” during the band’s July 2018 performance at St. George Theatre on the Staten Island borough of New York City. The performance will be included on the band’s forthcoming Ramblin’ Man: Live at The St. George Theatre live album and concert film, which is scheduled to arrive on DVD/CD + LP later this month on July 26th. The concert that night featured a lineup comprised of Dickey on guitar and vocals, his son Duane Betts (lead guitar), Frankie Lombardi (drums), Mike Kach (keyboards, vocals), Pedro Arevalo (bass), Damon Fowler (guitar, vocals), and Steve Camilleri (drums).
The band’s performance of Allman Bros. classic proved once again that Dickey still has the rock and roll spirit burning alive and well inside of him. The song opened up with both Betts guitarists in sync with one another as they started out with the familiar opening riff before the rest of the band joined in. A bearded Dickey Betts stepped up to the mic to belt out the equally-familiar lyrics with help from Kach, as the two took the audience on a ride down memory lane with a fantastic rendition of the ABB classic. Both Dickey and Duane traded guitar leads during the solo portion, giving the younger Betts a chance to dive right in and take center stage with his own axe. Dickey would also go on to close the song with another impressive solo of his own a few minutes later.

“When I first wrote this song, I didn’t think much of it,” Betts told Guitar World to go with the video’s premiere on Tuesday. “When I played it for the band they insisted we record it. Now, it seems it’s the one song I have to play every night!”
Ramblin’ Man: Live at The St. George Theatre will also feature the guest appearance from Devon Allman (son of Gregg Allman) for the performance of “Midnight Rider”. Fans can head here to pre-order the album.
