The two very different worlds of Toto and Snarky Puppy collided in Finland over the weekend when the Snarky horn section joined the 80s hitmakers for a performance of “Rosanna” during their set at Pori Jazz Festival on Saturday.

Both bands performed at the event’s main stage on Saturday, as Snarky Puppy played at 8 p.m. ahead of Toto’s scheduled 10:30 p.m. set time. About halfway through Toto’s 16-song headlining set, they welcomed Snarky Puppy’s Justin Stanton, Mike “Maz” Maher, and Chris Bullock to the stage to help perform the Grammy-winning 1982 hit song.

The extra oomph of the Snarky Puppy horns was not the only Snarky-adjacent aspect of the performance. Xavier Taplin, touring Toto member and keyboardist in Ghost-Note, the funk fusion outfit led by veteran Snarky percussionists Nate Werth and Robert Sput Searight, also added some swing to the song with a piano solo (at the 4:40 mark in the video below).
