Amidst a whirlwind of uncertainty surrounding Michael Lang‘s Woodstock 50 festival, the original festival’s 1970 documentary is set to hit theaters nationwide on August 15th for a one-night-only screening.

August 15th will mark the first nationwide screening of the Michael Wadleigh-directed film since the documentary’s original release. In honor of Woodstock’s 50th anniversary, the upcoming screening will include three hours and 44 minutes of the director’s cut, previously never-before-seen Woodstock footage of Janis Joplin and Jefferson Airplane, along with performances by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Santana, Joan Baez, and more.

CEO of Fathom Events Ray Nutt shared his thoughts on the documentary, explaining, “Both as a documentary and as a pop-culture phenomenon, ‘Woodstock’ is a milestone, a pivotal moment in history captured forever, proving the enduring power of cinema. 50 years later, there has never been anything quite like it.”
