Phil Lesh & Friends Offer Up Final Set Of Beach Road Weekend

134

On Sunday, Phil Lesh & Friends offered up the final festival set of the inaugural Beach Road Weekend, held at Martha’s Vineyard, MA’s Veterans Memorial Park.

Prior to Phil Lesh’s performance, Beach Road Weekend saw a plethora of talent including sets by John FogertyGrace Potter, Dispatch, Galactic, Matisyahu, The Original Wailers, Alejandro Escovedo, Mason Jennings, North Mississippi Allstars, and more.

Phil Lesh was joined by guitarists Eric Krasno and Cris Jacobs, multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby, vocalist Nicki Bluhm, and drummer John Molo. The six-piece ensemble opened up their single-set performance with the frequent pairing of “Help On The Way” > “Franklin’s Tower” > “Slipknot!”, providing ample opportunity for Krasno and Jacobs to trade off red-hot solos behind Lesh’s tenacious bass bombs. Krasno stepped up to the mic to lead the band through “West L.A. Fadeway” before Bluhm took her opportunity to shine and took the vocal lead on “Deal”. The band continued on with fan-favorites “Scarlet Begonias” and “Uncle John’s Band”, which was followed up by a tender “Stella Blue” led by Jacobs. Sans any encore, the band closed out their Beach Road Weekend set with “Shakedown Street”.
