On Tuesday night, Trey Anastasio Band returned to Vail, CO’s Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater for the final night of the band’s brief Colorado run.

Trey Anastasio and his band—comprised of Russ Lawton (drums), Tony Markellis (bass), Cyro Baptista (percussion), Ray Paczkowski (keys), Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet, vocals), Natalie Cressman (trombone, vocals), and James Casey (saxophones, vocals)—opened up the first set with “Speak To Me” before moving forward with “Pigtail”, “Sidewalks Of San Francisco”, “Night Speaks To A Woman”, and the instrumental “Magilla”.

With the sun setting behind the gorgeous mountainside venue, TAB appropriately coasted into “Sometime After Sunset”, which was followed up by “Last Tube”. Trey and his ensemble then offered up the first Ghosts of the Forest tune of the night with “A Life Beyond The Dream” before closing out the first frame with “Alaska” and “Shine”.

Following a brief set break, Trey Anastasio Band returned to open up their second set with “Sightless Escape”, which was debuted by TAB on Friday night at Denver’s Mission Ballroom. The eight-piece moved forward with “Burlap Sack & Pumps”, “46 Days”, and “Valentine” before offering up the TAB debut of Ghosts of the Forest’s “The Green Truth”. Trey nailed the debut, backed by some ferocious organ solos out of Paczkowski’s corner. The band continued on with TAB staples “Drifting”, “Simple Twist Up Dave”, “Heavy Things”, “Rise/Come Together”, and a set-closing take on “Mr. Completely”.

Trey and the full band reemerged to open up the encore with the Hartswick-led cover of Gorillaz‘s “Clint Eastwood”, showcasing Jen’s impressive pipes and quick-witted rap skills. Moving into his solo acoustic format, Trey worked through “Summer Of ’89”, dedicated to his wife Sue in honor of their 25th wedding anniversary. Anastasio’s bandmates returned to properly close out the night with a high-energy “Push On ‘Til The Day”, providing Trey one final opportunity to run around the stage and fire off some roaring guitar solos.

Next up for Trey Anastasio Band is a performance at LOCKN’ this Friday, August 16th, which will include a special second set with Derek Trucks. For a full list of Trey’s upcoming tour dates, ticketing, and more information, head to his website.
