Longines Heritage Military 1938 Watch Salutes Classic Pre-World War II Style

3

Longines, a.k.a. Compagnie des Montres Longines Francillon S.A., is following an apparent trend from high-end watchmakers in recent years by reissuing a limited run of The Longines Heritage Military.

This stylish melding of function and form is, according to Longines, a “reinterpretation of a military watch produced in 1938.” The original has long been a part of the Swiss company’s historical collection.

The Heritage is a hand-wound mechanical watch with a substantial 43 mm stainless steel case, one reminiscent of the era when it was first designed. Other elements from the same inspiration include the beveled bezel and unique “sea urchin” crown, which is a clever design shaped with adjustment and winding in mind.

The Longines Heritage Military 1938 comes with a matte black dial under an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. With classic military practicality, the hours and dial are coated with Super-LumiNova®, ensuring maximum visibility whenever needed.

Another element taken from the 1930s watch is the railroad track-like design that encircles the watch face.

The Heritage Military comes with interchangeable straps–a charcoal leather with aged patina and coffee-colored NATO band. A tool is included to quickly change straps depending on how you want it to match your clothing, activity, or mood.

The Longines Heritage Military 1938 is relatively affordable for a luxe offering–it’s going for the equivalent of $2,600 USD in the United Kingdom, but there’s no price yet on the American site listing, which says it is available on request.

Don’t wait too long, though–only 1,938 pieces will be available.
