Virgin Voyages Announces New Adults-Only ‘Valiant Lady’ Cruise Ship

Virgin Voyages—the luxe, adults-only cruise ship brand that lets travelers order Champagne by shaking their phone—is growing its fleet with a second ship and a fresh set of decadent itineraries.

While the 2,770-passenger Scarlet Lady has yet to make her maiden voyage on April 1 of 2020, plans for its sister liner Valiant Lady are already well under way. The mammoth vessel will dock just steps from the storied Las Ramblas streets near World Trade Center Barcelona. This prime port, which is usually reserved for luxury liners and superyachts, puts travelers within walking distance of trendy Spanish neighborhoods including Poble Sec, el Raval, Barri Gotic, Port Vell and famed urban beach La Barceloneta.

Beginning May of 2021, Valiant Lady will embark on one of three seven-night sailings featuring the Mediterranean Sea’s best beach clubs, restorative stops, yacht clubs, nightlife and cultural experiences. Itinerary No. 1 sees Barcelona, Ibiza, Monte Carlo Marseille and Olbia, Itinerary No. 2 goes to Barcelona, Ibiza, Toulon, Ajaccio, Marina di Carrara and Cagliari, and Itinerary No. 3 serves as a “Spanish immersion” in Barcelona, Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga and the British port of Gibraltar.

All three cruises include a Friday overnight stay in Ibiza, which Virgin Voyages bills as one of the “most stunning and thrilling Balearic islands.” Not many details have been released about Valiant Lady, other than she takes her name from the French word “vaillant,” meaning “bold,” “strong,” and “courageous.”

“We are thrilled to unveil the name of our second ship and to deliver on our commitment to offer travelers a sea change in how they can experience cruising in this fantastic part of the world,” said Tom McAlpin, CEO of Virgin Voyages.

“Our Sailors will fall in love with the places we go and the moments and memories they will be able to create on our gorgeous ship. After all, there is no better way to sail the seven seas than doing it the Virgin way.”

Bookings aboard Valiant Lady open up in December of 2019. Visit Virgin Voyages’ website for further info.
