This Classic Lamborghini Espada Rat Rod Can Now Be Yours

From 1968 to 1978, Lamborghini only produced about 1,200 Espada grand touring coupes. And none of them looked anything quite like this.

France’s Danton Art Kustoms modded the vintage Raging Bull into a badass rat rod in 2018 to celebrate its 50th anniversary. While Ferruccio Lamborghini designed the original Espada as the Italian marque’s luxe response to the Rolls-Royce Corniche, Danton’s maintains the original vehicle’s lines but has an intentionally unfinished look, with Sant’Agata’s original 3.9-liter V12 totally exposed up front.

The side scoops, however, are informed by the Lamborghini Reventon,  a supercar that first debuted in 2007. More exposed rivets and support trusses were used as further styling elements, while a muted satin gray paint keeps the vehicle from looking outright garish.

The seats and interior components were fabricated entirely by Danton, and the custom Espada name badge now features a Matador’s sword. Everything rides on shiny red wheels wrapped in modern Michelin tires.

Measuring 8.5 feet wide, Danton’s Espada rat rod will almost certainly handle and ride better than the original. It’s expected to fetch between $200,000 and $250,000 at Mecum’s Kissimmee, Florida auction in January—not an unreasonable ask for a truly one-of-a-kind take on a classic Lambo.
