Brandi Carlile wrapped up a six-show residency at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Tuesday night. Carlile’s finale featured a cover of Madonna‘s “Like A Prayer” and a number of guests, including Ruby Amanfu and Courtney Barnett.
The Washington native played a total of 41 different songs over the course of the residency. “The Things I Regret,” “Whatever You Do,” “Like A Prayer” and “Amazing Grace” were all performed for the first time during the run on Tuesday. Brandi also led her band through a number of staples at the finale including “The Joke,” “Cannonball,” “The Eye,” “The Story” and “Raise Hell.” Additionally, Courtney Barnett reprised her guest spot from the previous evening by joining Carlile and company for Gillian Welch’s “Everything Is Free.”
Brandi’s encore started with “Beginning To Feel The Years” and continued with her debut cover of “Like A Prayer,” the title track from Madonna’s 1989 studio album. “Shit’s about to get weird,” Carlile exclaimed before “Like A Prayer” began. Amanfu handled lead vocals on the tune, which also featured a choir that included Jordan Hamlin, Butterfly Boucher and Katie Herzig. Next up was a rendition of Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” and original “Party Of One.” The concert and residency concluded with another special moment, as Brandi put down her microphone, had the lights returned down and led the crowd in a singalong “Amazing Grace.”
