John Prine shared a video of his performance of “Way Back Then” from backstage at the John Anson Ford Theater in Los Angeles. The footage was recorded by acclaimed filmmaker Mark Romanek on October 1, 2019.
Prine was honored at last night’s 62nd annual Grammy Awards with a performance by Bonnie Raitt in recognition of Prine’s receiving the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Prine wrote and recorded “Way Back Then” for his 1991 album, The Missing Years. Romanek, whose credits include directing One Hour Photo and several popular music videos, shot the footage of Prine on his iPhone 11 Pro Max. Watch below:
