Supergroup Secret Stash featuring members of moe., Dave Matthews Band, Guster, O.A.R., Extreme and more plus DJ Logic performed on Saturday night at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe, Vermont. The band was joined by guests on a mix of songs from members’ projects and choice covers throughout the show from which proceeds benefitted the Spruce Peak Arts Center Foundation.
The base lineup of DMB bassist Stefan Lessard, Guster guitarist Adam Gardner, N*E*R*D drummer Eric Fawcett, moe. guitarist Al Schnier and multi-instrumentalist Michael Ghegan opened the performance with covers of Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” and The Rolling Stones’ “Miss You.” Next, Guster’s Ryan Miller and DJ Logic added to a take on “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)” by Talking Heads and Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” which was played sans Logic. Next, came a wild mashup of Guster and DMB’s “Satellite” featuring the core band, Miller and guitarist Pete Kilpatrick before Logic joined the base lineup for David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.”
The concert continued with Marc Roberge (O.A.R.) leading O.A.R.’s own “Hey Girl,” the Beatles’ classic “With A Little Help From My Friends” and Billy Joel’s “The Downeaster Alexa.” DJ Logic was then joined by percussionist Chad Hollister for a segment of his own before Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt teamed with Adam Gardner for “More Than Words.” The base lineup returned and was augmented by Bettencourt and Fuel’s Brett Scallions for “Breed” by Nirvana. Nuno left the stage and then the base lineup and Brett covered “Destroyer” by the Kinks, The Clash’s “Should I Stay Or Should I Go” and Billy Idol’s “Dancing With Myself.” Bettencourt returned for the “Purple Rain” that closed the main set and all of the evening’s performers added to Supertramp’s “Goodbye Stranger” as the encore.
