Nirvana Members Reunite In Los Angeles

Members of Nirvana reunited to play the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday night. Drummer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic along with Nirvana touring guitarist and Grohl’s Foo Fighters bandmate Pat Smear welcomed Beck and St. Vincent to handle the late great Kurt Cobain’s vocals parts.

As NME reported, the concert — a Heaven 2020 Charity Gala in support of The Art of Elysium — saw Grohl, Novoselic and company opening up with “Lithium” on which St. Vincent handled lead vocals. Beck then stepped to the mic for another Nevermind track, “In Bloom,” and delivered some guitar solos as well. Beck then related how he got into a mosh pit at a Nirvana show in the same venue 30 years earlier before launching into “Been A Son” from the legendary grunge band’s 1989 debut LP, Bleach.

As NME pointed out, the only thing the show was missing was a some teen spirit which was provided by Grohl’s 13-year-old daughter Violet who sang “Heart-Shaped Box.” Beck stepped back to the mic for Nirvana’s Unplugged version of David Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold The World” to close out the Nirvana segment.
