Railroad Earth included rare covers of The Rolling Stones and Neil Young in their Tuesday night show at the Belly Up Aspen. The band’s first of two nights in Aspen featured a take on “Powderfinger” in the first set and a “Wild Horses” encore.
The night began with a pairing of “Right In Tune” and “The Hunting Song” followed by a run of “420,” “Slippin’ Away,” “Old Man & The Land” and “Any Road.” Next, Tim Carbone strapped on an accordion for a take on Young’s “Powderfinger.” RRE ended the frame with a “Walk Beside Me” that bled into “Give That Boy A Hand.”
“Everything Comes Together” and “Lordy, Lordy” got last night’s second set underway. From there, the New Jersey-birthed band followed “When The Sun Gets In Your Blood” with a “Shockenaw Mountain Breakdown” that gave way to “Black Bear.” Then, “All that’s Dead May Live Again” led into “Seven Story Mountain.” Railroad Earth closed out the set with “Bringin’ My Baby Back Home,” “12 Wolves” and “The Great Divide.” For the encore, RRE busted out “Wild Horses” for the first time since 2013. The band played a rendition in line with Old & In The Way’s version as a preview of their upcoming shows with Peter Rowan.
