Railroad Earth Nods To Old & In The Way At The Fillmore In San Francisco

155

Railroad Earth brought their winter tour to San Francisco over the weekend for a pair of shows at The Fillmore in San Francisco. The jamgrass act nodded to hometown hero Jerry Garcia by encoring with Old & In The Way songs each night.

The concerts featured a number of songs from All For The Song, the first RRE studio album in five years, including “The Great Divide,” “It’s So Good” and “Runnin’ Wild.” Railroad Earth, who was joined by keyboardist Matt Slocum and multi-instrumentalist Mike Robinson, also played plenty of classics including “Elko,” “Head,” “Seven Story Mountain,” “Like A Buddha,” “Happy Song” and “The Hunting Song.” Additionally, the group performed their version of the late Neal Casal’s “Dandelion Wine” on Friday.

Marty O’Reilly & The Old Soul Orchestra served as the opening act on Friday and Saturday. Railroad Earth closed out Friday’s show with “The Hobo Song” and ended the run on Saturday with “Old & In The Way.” Both songs are featured on Old & In The Way’s self-titled debut album, which was released in 1975. Old & In The Way consisted of Garcia, John Kahn, Peter Rowan, David Grisman and Vassar Clements. RRE will team with Rowan for performances of Old & The In The Way next month in Denver and in Port Chester, New York.
