The latest single issued from the posthumous David Bowie EP, David Bowie Is It Any Wonder?, is the previously unreleased “I Can’t Read ‘97.” The weekly digital release of the six-song EP comprised of rare and other previously unreleased tracks began last Friday with a recording of “The Man Who Sold The World.”

First recorded for Tin Machine’s 1989 self-titled debut album, “I Can’t Read” was re-recorded by Bowie in late-1996 while mixing the tracks that appeared on his 1997 album, Earthling. Bowie’s solo version of “I Can’t Read ‘97” was left off the album. A different version of the song was recorded for the feature film The Ice Storm and included on its 1997 soundtrack album. Bowie produced “I Can’t Read ‘97” with co-production from Mark Plati (who also mixed the track) and Reeves Gabrels (who played guitar on the track). “I Can’t Read ‘97” was recorded and mixed at Right Track Recording in New York and also features bassist Gail Ann Dorsey and pianist Mike Garson.

A video for the previously unreleased track, filmed by Tom Pope during January 1997 rehearsals in Hartford, Connecticut, can be viewed below:
