While Wilco had the night off on Monday at their Sky Blue Sky destination event in Riviera Maya, Mexico; there was still plenty of music to enjoy. Frontman Jeff Tweedy‘s Tweedy project performed a 85-minute set in the afternoon that came to a close with a Neil Young cover.

As noted on Via Chicago by bböp, Tweedy’s lineup on Monday saw Jeff backed by Spencer Tweedy on drums, Liam Kazar on bass and James Elkington on lead guitar. Tweedy’s setlist featured a number of songs from the project’s lone album — 2014’s Sukierae — as well as a bevy of tunes from Jeff’s 2018 solo album, Warm, and 2019 solo album, Warmer.

In addition, the quartet played three covers, the first of which was Diane Izzo’s “Love Like A Wire,” which included backing vocals from Sammy Tweedy. Sammy also joined his dad and brother’s band for “Some Birds,” “I Know What It’s Like,” “Evergreen” and the set-closing take on Neil Young’s “The Losing End (When You’re On).” Plus, Tweedy played “I Wanna Be Your Mama Again” by the Sir Douglas Quintet before the performance of the song from Neil’s 1969 album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.
