Umphrey’s McGee Bust Outs Pink Floyd Covers In Columbus

122

Umphrey’s McGee busted out a pair of Pink Floyd covers during their concert at Express Live! in Columbus on Saturday night. An audience recording of the show from the band’s Hindsight 2020 Tour is available to stream below.

The pair of back-to-back Floyd cover bust outs came in the second set when UM coupled “In The Flesh?” with “Another Brick In The Wall.” When played, the two The Wall tracks are often linked by UM, like the last time prior to Saturday, which was on July 5, 2018, at Red Rocks — a 140 show gap.

Saturday’s show in Columbus began with the rarely optioned intro “Gurgle” and the first “Hindsight” of its namesake tour, which was last played exactly one year prior. “Puppet String” and expansive sequence of improvisation followed and eventually landed on “Educated Guess.” A standalone version of the classic “2×2” and the newer tune, “Looks,” came next. “Utopian Fir,” with a jam on “Proverbial” — original also last performed at the aforementioned Red Rocks show and a return to finish “Puppet String” drew the first set to a close.

The instrumental “Dump City” opened set two and featured the new single “Suxity” within. The Pink Floyd covers were then busted out ahead of a jammed out “In The Kitchen.” Classic “Much Obliged” and the rowdy “Partyin Peeps” round out the second set. Saturday’s encore consisted of “Wife Soup.”

An audience recording of Saturday’s show taped by Jim Mal can be streamed below:
