Billy Strings Joins Tyler Childers At The Ryman

158

Tyler Childers completed his 2020 residency at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville with a fourth and final performance on Sunday night. Guitarist Billy Strings, fresh off a pair of sit-ins in Asheville with Umphrey’s McGee, joined Childers and his band The Food Stamps on a Charlie Daniels’ cover.

Saturday’s show at The Ryman saw Ricky Skaggs and Larry Cordle sitting-in with Childers and his band mates. Sunday’s show started with Childers taking the stage alone and performing several songs solo on acoustic guitar. Later in the set, Childers welcomed William Matheny to the Ryman stage for a sit-in that included the latter’s “Funny Papers.”

“I’m no Billy Strings, I’m more Tyler sings,” Childers told The Ryman audience, before adding, “I’ll tell who is Billy Strings: Billy Strings!”

Strings then came out with an electric guitar to augment The Charlie Daniels Band’s “Trudy.” Watch video of the collaborations and other highlights posted by Music City Maven below:
