Bob Weir & Cass McCombs Guest With Wynonna In San Francisco

Wynonna & The Big Noise were joined by Cass McCombs and Bob Weir at The Fillmore in San Francisco on Thursday night. Weir and McCombs added to Grateful Dead classics and more at The Fillmore.

Bobby’s guest spot began with a single he recorded with Wynonna that is coming out on Tuesday, a take on the Dead’s “Ramble On Rose.” Cass McCombs also contributed to “Ramble On Rose.” Later, Weir handled lead vocals on versions of “Truckin’” and “Althea” in which Wynonna provided harmonies. “If we get another gig I’m going to sing more, because I’m just in awe [right now],” Wynonna noted. Wynonna did plenty of singing on “I Know Where I’m Going,” a song The Judds recorded for 1987’s Heartland, and dueted with Bobby on the Dead’s “Jack Straw.”

Next up was “Rock Bottom,” which Wynonna originally released on Tell Me Why in 1993, and The Judds’ “Why Not Me.” Wynonna kept on heaping praise upon Weir and told the crowd how excited she was for this occasion. She then led Weir and The Big Noise through “No One Else On Earth” from her 1992 debut solo album. Finally, Bob Weir emerged with Wynonna & The Big Noise for last night’s encore. Weir sang lead on Dwight Yoakam’s “Fast As You” first. Then, the ensemble capped the night with The Judds’ mega-hit “Love Can Build A Bridge.”
