David Crosby & Joe Walsh To Perform At Kent State University 50th Commemoration Benefit Concert

124

David Crosby and Joe Walsh will perform at Kent State University’s 50th Commemoration Benefit Concert on Saturday, May 2. Crosby will team with his touring band, while Walsh will reunite with Barnstorm featuring Joe Vitale and Kenny Passarelli at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.

The concert will honor the students who were killed and wounded by 28 National Guard soldiers as they took part in demonstrations against the Vietnam War on the campus of Kent State University on May 4, 1970. Crosby soon recorded and released “Ohio” as part of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young in protest to the massacre, while Walsh was a student at the university during the tragic events that took place nearly 50 years ago.

Walsh formed Barnstorm with Vitale, a fellow Kent State student, and Passarelli following his departure from the James Gang. Additional artists will be announced soon. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the May 4th Legacy Scholarships, “which will provide four endowed scholarships to be given to students majoring in Kent State’s renowned Peace and Conflict Studies program. Each scholarship will bear the name of one of the students killed – Allison Krause, Jeffrey Miller, Sandra Scheuer and William Schroeder – to serve as a lasting testament to their lives and presence at Kent State.” Tickets go on sale Friday, March 6 at 10 a.m. ET via this page.
