The Marcus King Band will soon part ways with saxophonist Dean Mitchell. Dean announced the news of his departure, which is effective “in a few weeks,” on his Facebook page.
“It’s a big decision, but I am leaving the Marcus King Band effective in a few weeks. I’ve put over 4 hard years of work into this band, so this is not easy. I love everyone in the band, and have shared countless insane memories that will always be with me,” explained Mitchell. “What’s made this all possible is you; our fans, friends, and family. I hope to see you all out there and share in the joy of great and inspirational music. Looking forward, I am open to new opportunities should they present themselves, and hope to see you on the road of happy destiny.”
The MKB has yet to publicly address Mitchell’s announcement. Dean was a member of the group during their appearance on Conan, which made JamBase’s list of 20 Memorable Television Performances By Jam Acts. Marcus’ band is in the middle of a U.S. tour that runs through February 15 and will be followed by a trip to Europe.
