Death Cab For Cutie Performs ‘Transatlanticism’ In Its Entirety In Seattle

114

Death Cab for Cutie performed their landmark 2003 album, Transatlaticism, in its entirety on Tuesday night. The band delivered the LP live at The Showbox in Seattle, just south of their native Bellingham, Washington.

Death Cab For Cutie opened up with material from their 2018 LP Thank You For Today including “I Dreamt We Spoke Again” and “Summer Years” along with “Gold Rush.” The first set also saw the “The Ghosts Of Beverly Drive” from 2015’s Kintsugi and “Long Division” off 2008’s Narrow Stairs.

The band then performed Tranatalnticism, a concept album about long-distance romance, in its entirety. “What with the nostalgia of playing the Showbox again and all… it felt like a good night to revisit an old friend,” the band posted on Instagram today. “Thanks, Seattle, for helping us celebrate #transatlanticism last night.”

Death Cab continued with “I Will Possess Your Heart,” “Black Sun,” “Northern Lights” and “Soul Meets Body” to close out the set. Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard would come back out for a solo acoustic “I Will Follow You Into The Dark” before being joined by the band for “Crooked Teeth” and “Marching Bands Of Manhattan” to bring the evening to a close
