Levon Helm’s 80th birthday will be celebrated with a series of The Midnight Ramble Band concerts at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, New York this May. The band will be joined by special guests for each of the three shows as well as for a previously announced set that will take place at this year’s Mountain Jam Festival.
Famed The Band drummer/vocalist Levon Helm was born on May 26, 1940 and died from cancer on April 19, 2012. The Midnight Ramble Band was Helm’s longtime band. His “final act” included opening his barn/studio facility to the public for Midnight Rambles. Levon Helm Studios has continued to host concerts since his passing.
The first celebration will take place on May 8 with special guest Nicki Bluhm. Then, Jackie Greene will perform with The Midnight Ramble Band on May 9. An additional celebration with guest Daniel Norgren is scheduled for May 15. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, February 7 at 10 a.m. ET via Eventbrite (5/8, 5/9, 5/15).
