Neil Young Announces Crazy Horse BARN Tour 2020

Neil Young & Crazy Horse will embark on the BARN tour of North America soon. Young announced the news on his Neil Young Archives website just weeks after responding to a fan inquiring about a potential excursion that he isn’t planning a big tour.

“We have been looking at booking the Crazy Horse BARN Tour,” Neil wrote. “Many of the old places we used to play are gone now, replaced by new coliseums we have to book (sp) year in advance and we don’t want to go to anyway. That’s not the way we like to play. It sounds way to (sp) much like a real job if you have to book it and wait a year, so we have decided to play old arenas – not the new sports facilities put up by corporations for their sports teams. Largely soulless, these new buildings cost a fortune to play in.”

“We wanted to play in a couple of months because we feel like it,” Young added. “To us it’s not a regular job. We don’t like the new rules.” He went on to list venues that have been demolished and arenas still existing that apparently are among those Crazy Horse is looking at. The Forum in Los Angeles, Rochester War Memorial, Toronto’s CNE Coliseum, Nashville Municipal Auditorium, Providence Civic Center, Hartford Civic Center and New York City’s Madison Square Garden are just a few of the venues on Neil’s list.

“If you are looking for us on our Crazy Horse Barn Tour, we will hopefully be in one of the existing arenas,” the newly minted U.S. citizen explained. “News coming pretty soon. Earlier this month, a subscriber asked Neil about his tour plans for 2020. “Don’t expect anything. I am not focused on playing,” Neil responded. “I am taking care of my music.” However, as JamBase noted, the legendary artist did write “Crazy Horse will return” and that he hoped to perform in Buffalo as part of other responses in the batch of Letters To The Editor. The latest NYCH lineup features Neil Young, longtime members Billy Talbot and Ralph Molina along with more recent addition Nils Lofgren.
