The Decemberists Confirm 20th Anniversary Tour

126

The Decemberists will embark on an extensive 2020 tour to celebrate their 20th anniversary. “Twenty Years Before The Mast – The Decemberists 20th Anniversary Tour” is currently set to span July 28 – August 22 and will feature support from Fruit Bats.

“It was very nearly twenty years ago — or just under, anyway, depending on how you call it — that the Decemberists, or at least a band initially called The December Brides, emerged, fully formed — or at least with some of the current members, like two or three — walked on to the stage at Berbati’s Pan in Portland, Oregon and proclaimed themselves a rock ‘n’ roll band,” notes the band in a statement. “This definitely most likely happened twenty years ago, though a clerical error in the initial logo design listing the band’s establishment as 2001 has caused confusion for — and here we go again — nearly twenty years.

“We’ll be indulging liberally in the discography from every era of the band, from the indie to the outie, from the DIY (Do It Yourself) days to the SEDIFY (Someone Else Does It For You) days — the hits, the not-so-hits, and the ones in between. Every era of Colin’s facial hair will be well-represented, have no fear!” added The Decemberists, who kick off the tour at Kettlehouse Amphitheater in Missoula, Montana on July 28. The band then hits Seattle, Troutdale (Oregon), Saratoga (California), Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Denver, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Chicago, Toronto, Lafayette (New York), Vienna (Virginia), Philadelphia, Boston, New York City and Nashville.

A fan pre-sale starts at 12 p.m. local time. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, February 14 with $1 from each ticket going towards “non-profits that are working to transform the accessibility and infrastructure around voting policy and procedure” via PLUS1.
